SOUL TV Episode 217 What is being a Modern Warrior? This ancient term is overused in self-development now but what aspects are relevant & how can we use it to help us? Watch 8pm Mon 14 Sept www.soultv.com.au
To set the scene and where we are coming from, for you:
“Mankind is going through a huge shift in consciousness, a transition from the mind to the heart. There has never been a more important time to make the change to the ancient wisdom and knowledge that dwells within the heart centre.”
A Quote by Guillaume Apollinaire (1880 - 1918) French poet and playwright.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we will fall!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.
From an Inxs song….”If I told you that we could fly…that we all had wings but some of us don’t know why!”
So what is a “Warrior?” It is an ancient term that use to largely describe the people, men and women, who were ostensibly trained and fought to defend and preserve a certain way of life for themselves and their village, tribe or country. I say apparently because in reality, for many warriors and armies, it was more for the better good of the ruler of the day. In very ancient times the women fought with the men or had tribes of their own; the Amazon women of Greek Mythology. Were they really a myth? From what we have gathered on our journeys we have learnt to never dismiss the stories we hear as just myth for within a myth/story lies the seed of truth. In fact archaeology has turned up women who fit the description of the Amazon women. The Scythian women fought with the men just as fiercely and skilfully. Scythia being a place of antiquity in central Eurasia where the warriors were feared and admired for the prowess in war and skills on horseback. But we digress!
The people we are referring to when we use the term “warrior” were disciplined, focussed and a force to be reckoned with as an individual or as a group. For the Samurai of Japan and many other ancient cultures it was also an art form as well as a way of living. They had an aura and an energy to them that told people without having to utter a word or draw a weapon, that they stood in a place of true power, the power that comes from within us all, from our “knowing” of who we truly are.
So what then is a “Modern Warrior” within the context of the self-development movement of today? Are we as individuals or a collective so far removed from that ancient concept that it has become unattainable? Maybe a definition of what we think a “warrior” is modern or not, might help. Above all a “warrior” must have or be striving to attain; integrity, discipline, focus, moral soundness, honesty, courage and knowledge + trust of self. It is knowing when to speak up and when to pull back. It is about acting instead of reacting. It is about knowing you have a choice and choosing the path that will best serve the greater good without anyone or anything getting hurt. In other words the modern warrior knows who they are in all aspects of that term and can apply that knowledge to living life.
"He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is Enlightened." -Tao Te Ching
If you do not know who you are or in the very least have a strong idea of who you are or want to be, you cannot know why you are here or where you are heading. It is no wonder that so many of us have lost our way or are anxious and confused and look to the “warrior”/leaders outside us to help us out of our predicament. Most of us know it is time for change, to change to something more nurturing and in alignment with what we feel rather than what we have been fed. We are all searching for “us,” for our tribe, for where we belong and what our purpose in life is….for “enlightenment.” We have become so indoctrinated by mind control and manipulation on this planet by those who think they own us and the Earth, that we feel lost, confused and alone. It is only when we begin to “wake up” and realise that all is not what it seems to be and that there is so much more to us and who we are, that we begin to call on our inner resources…the Warrior within and there begins our journey to find ourselves, to know ourselves, the Warriors Journey, a journey of the Heart. It is one that will take heart, honesty, courage, focus, discipline and trust. Does it apply to men only? No! It applies to us all. Male, female, young and old, all who are seeking their own truth and the truth of who we truly are, Warriors of light and love, standing in your own power and truth.
In our workshop Pathway to the Heart, The Warriors Journey you will get the chance to work out who you are or what you are here for also to re-write your life story to the way you want it to be and learn how to implement these changes into your everyday life.
• You will also learn how: To tap into your inner knowing and intuition
To release all limiting decisions and beliefs
To utilise the power of self-trance/hypnosis to access the deeper and most powerful aspects of yourself.
The difference between knowing your path and walking it is the difference between an ordinary life and an extraordinary one.
We will show you how to step confidently into your truth and live it. Remember that you do have a calling in life and a part to play. It is time to bring the warrior within, out and apply it to all situations that may be holding you back or see you in a place of confrontation or powerlessness.
We will finish with a story: There was once a very famous Japanese warrior who had a well-known fighting school and it was called “The School of No Sword.” One day a rival came to town who had heard of his amazing abilities. He burst into the school and ridiculed the warrior as he taught, “How can you have a fighting school with no sword that is ridiculous.” He said. “I can beat you any time and I challenge you to a fight.” So the warrior looked at him calmly and said, “If that is what you want I will meet you at the shores of the lake tomorrow afternoon.” When the challenger arrived the warrior was sitting in a boat and told the challenger that they would settle this challenge on the island of their ancestors. The two of the got into the boat and rowed across to the island to begin their battle. When they arrived the Warrior/teacher gestured to the challenger to go ashore first. The challenger smiled arrogantly and got off the boat at which point the Warrior pushed the boat out onto the water and rowed back to shore, saying “This is the wisdom of the School of No Sword.”
Choose your battles wisely, always come from your heart. Stand in your power. Find out who you are and be the best you can be.
